The New York Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society invites you to join the worldwide community of dancers who thrill to fast-moving jigs and reels and stately strathspeys. Learn or polish your dancing skills in the friendly atmosphere of our classes. Share the joys of Scottish dancing and pageantry at our parties and Highland Balls. All welcome! No experience necessary! Come with or without a partner.
Dancing over the summer. The NY Branch will be dancing on Thursdays from June 28th through August 16, 7:30pm-10:00pm. These are drop-in sessions open to anyone with some country dance experience (such as English, contra, or square dance). Location is the regular class site (St. Bart's), and prices are as follows:
Single evening, member: $10
Single evening, nonmember: $12
Full-time students: Half price
Dance card (10 evenings prepaid), member: $85
Dance card (10 evenings prepaid), nonmember: $100
RSCDS New York members interviewed on BBC Radio Scotland's Take the Floor. Spring 2018 Basic Class registration is closed. The next class series for newcomers will be open in the fall--check the classes page midsummer for the updated schedule. In the meantime, new dancers are welcome to try Scottish country dancing with Scotia Dancers on Monday nights.
