Expert teaching is the norm at the Branch, whatever your level of experience. Beginners start off on the right foot with highly qualified instructors trained in the rigorous program established by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society in Edinburgh. Once beginners have learned the fundamentals, they join the more experienced group for instruction from the same dedicated experts.
Each of our regular classes ends with social dancing for all, with walk-throughs and recaps. At our parties, teachers talk through and recap the dances using the RSCDS format that clearly conveys the figures and structure of the dance.

The Basic Class for Beginners: This group learns basic steps and movements of SCD and progresses through the formations that make up the various dances.
Intermediate/Advanced Class: The emphasis is on learning well-known repertoire and new dances, and preparing for balls, party programs, and weekends. More challenging formations are taught for the benefit of experienced dancers. All dances are taught with attention to technique and footwork.
Our teachers encourage all dancers to make the most of their abilities, through patient, inspiring instruction. Become a confident, stylish Scottish dancer! Join the classes at the Branch!
